SAN ANTONIO — Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Lamont Roach went to war for 12 rounds Saturday night, but their WBC interim super lightweight title bout ended in controversy, ruled a majority draw at the Frost Bank Center.

Two judges scored the fight 113–113, while the third had Cruz ahead 115–111, leaving Roach once again frustrated after another disputed decision. It marked Roach’s second straight majority draw in 2025, following his highly debated bout with Gervonta “Tank” Davis earlier this year.

“All I want is a fair shake,” Roach said afterward. “I thought I pulled that fight out. I clearly thought I won.”

Cruz started fast, thriving in close-range exchanges as Roach chose to stand his ground early. The Mexican pressure fighter dropped Roach with a left hook late in the third round, putting himself firmly in control. However, the momentum shifted in the middle rounds when Roach adjusted his strategy, moving laterally and fighting off the back foot. The change paid off, allowing Roach to string together several strong rounds.

Cruz resorted to rough tactics, including head-leading and low blows, and was deducted a point in the seventh round for kidney punches. By the championship rounds, Roach appeared to be edging toward a decision win.

But Cruz closed strong. A late surge in the 11th and 12th rounds — fueled by the energy of a pro-Cruz crowd of over 10,000 — helped swing the judges just enough to deny Roach a victory.

All three judges gave Cruz the opening three rounds and the final frame, sealing a result that left Roach shaking his head and boxing fans debating yet another razor-thin verdict.
