Jakarta was represented by 10 tourism partners, including PHRI Jakarta, Taman Safari Indonesia, PIK Tourism Board, Universal Tour & Travel, Nusaraya International Tour and Travel, Dwidaya Wisata Indonesia, Gran Melia Jakarta, Novotel Jakarta Mangga Dua Square, Plataran Indonesia, and Baltic Golf Travel Specialist.

The Jakarta Provincial Tourism and
Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf DKI Jakarta) has reaffirmed its position
in the international tourism market by participating in ITB China 2026, Asia’s
largest B2B travel trade show, held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and
Convention Center from May 26–28, 2026. This participation marks Jakarta’s
debut as an independent destination at this highly influential B2B travel trade
show specifically targeting the Chinese market, serving as a key component of
the city’s grand strategy to achieve Top 50 Global City status.

ITB China 2026 has set a new record,
featuring over 900 travel organizations from 85 countries and regions, 1,700
curated buyers, and over 46,000 scheduled business meetings. This year’s
edition completely sold out despite a 20% increase in exhibition space,
reflecting the exceptionally high global demand for the continuously growing
Chinese travel market.

China has consistently been one of
the largest sources of foreign tourists for Indonesia and Jakarta. With the
post-pandemic tourism recovery strengthening, demand from Chinese tourists for
Southeast Asian destinations has increased significantly. With 1,700 buyers in
attendance—34% of whom focus on luxury and customized travel, and 25% on MICE
(Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions)—ITB China 2026 presents a
golden opportunity for Jakarta to attract high-value market segments.

“ITB China 2026 is a strategic
stage to convince Chinese and Asian tourism industry players that Jakarta is no
longer just a transit city. We have prepared highly competitive MICE products,
heritage tourism, and world-class shopping experiences,” stated Andhika
Permata, Head of the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency.

“Jakarta offers a unique appeal
as an urban destination that seamlessly blends modernity with rich cultural
heritage. From the historic Old Town (Kota Tua), the diversity of Nusantara
culinary delights, and world-class shopping centers, to a dynamic creative
economy ecosystem—everything is available in one continuously transforming
metropolitan city,” added Lucky Wulandari, Head of Marketing and Attractions.

Participation in ITB China 2026
aligns with the agency’s long-term strategy to promote Jakarta on the
international stage. Disparekraf DKI Jakarta remains committed to expanding its
tourism promotional reach, building strategic partnerships with global industry
players, and creating memorable travel experiences for every guest visiting
Jakarta.

Capitalizing on the momentum of ITB
China 2026, Jakarta proudly brought 10 leading tourism delegates. These
participants included the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and
Restaurant Association (PHRI); Taman Safari Indonesia, promoting educational,
conservation, and underwater entertainment tourism; the PIK Tourism Board,
showcasing Jakarta’s newest tourism districts; and top-tier Destination
Management Companies (DMCs) such as Universal Tour & Travel, Nusaraya
International Tour and Travel, and Dwidaya Wisata Indonesia. Premium
accommodations, including Gran Melia Jakarta and Novotel Jakarta Mangga Dua
Square, were also highlighted. Furthermore, Jakarta promoted authentic
Nusantara culinary experiences through Plataran Indonesia and introduced the
city as a premier golf destination in collaboration with Baltic Golf Travel
Specialist.

Jakarta’s presence went beyond
merely exhibiting; the goal was to forge long-term partnerships. During the
event, the Jakarta Provincial Government’s booth received significant
enthusiasm from visitors, generating 336 potential leads with an estimated value
of IDR 53,394,561,990. Driven by this remarkable achievement, Jakarta is fully
prepared to welcome more tourists and business professionals from China with
world-class, friendly, and safe services. Through this participation, the
agency targets a substantial increase in foreign tourist arrivals to Jakarta,
ultimately making a tangible contribution to regional revenue (PAD).
