Taekwondo: Four nations get gold in pair, team poomsae

December 7, 2019 – Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam grab a piece of gold in the pair and team events of poomsae inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Malaysia’s tandem of Jason Loo Jun Wei and Nurul Hidaya Abdul Karim grabbed the gold medal in mixed pair recognized poomsae event.

The duo garnered 8.283 points in their routine, defeating eventual silver medalist Philippines by 0.05 points.

The host nation rebounded by getting the gold medal in the men’s team recognized poomsae.

Dustin Jacob and Raphael Enrico Mella, and Rodolfo Reyes Jr. took the first place as they tallied 8.483 points.

Vietnam’s 8.416 points took them the silver, while Malaysia grabbing the bronze with 7.983.

Thailand took a share of glory as they won the women’s team recognized poomsae event.

Ornawee Srisahakit, Kotchawan Chomchuen, and Phenkanya Phaisankiattikun tallied 8.399 points en route to a gold medal finish.

The Philippines took second place with 7.999, while Vietnam settled for third with 7.866.

Vietnam meanwhile reigned supreme in the mixed team freestyle poomsae event, beating three other teams.

The Vietnamese quintet tallied 7.799 points to grab gold, pulling ahead of silver medalist Philippines with 6.866.

Indonesia took the bronze medal, with their five-man team collecting 6.799 points in their routine.
