MANILA — Alab Pilipinas prevailed over Formosa on the road as Khalif Wyatt scored the game-winning three-point basket to give his squad a 100-99 win at the Changhua County Stadium in Taiwan on Sunday.
Wyatt’s triple with 27 seconds left saved Alab from a late show by Anthony Tucker that saw him put up four triples in succession to give the Dreamers a 99-97 lead from an eight-point deficit.
Tucker still tried to steal the win for Formosa, but he missed two straight triples before time expired.
Sam Deguara made 20 points and nine rebounds for Alab, who have now won four straight games to gain a share of the top spot with Mono Vampire, which clobbered Eastern at home, 98-75, later Sunday.
At the Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi, Thailand, Mono slowly pulled away from Eastern and posted a lead as high as 25 points late in the game before settling for the 23-point margin in the end.
Mike Singletary put up 24 markers, 14 boards, two dimes, and one steal for Mono, which moved up to 4-1 like Alab.
George Kell made 26 points, eight caroms, and seven dimes for Eastern, which remained winless at 0-3.
Brandon Costner (19 points and 12 rebounds) and Michael Holyfield (18 points and 14 rebounds) each added a double-double.
In the other scheduled game on Sunday, the Singapore Slingers turned back the Macau Wolf Warriors, 76-72, at the former’s OCBC Arena.
The Slingers came back from a five-point Wolf Warriors lead midway through the fourth to escape with the home win.
Xavier Alexander posted a triple-double of 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists with one steal for the Slingers, who won for the first time this season.
Anthony McClain added 19 markers, 15 boards, and three swats.
Douglas Herring put up 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Wolf Warriors, who fell to 2-4 like the Dreamers.
