Art of Eight, the training community under Bang Muay Thai Philippines Inc., has officially launched the first Bang Muay Thai program in Asia. The structured and inclusive training system from the United States is now available at Rockwell Atletica, offering Filipinos a new way to train in martial arts. The program is based on UFC-proven techniques developed by legendary coach Duane “Bang” Ludwig.
Bringing a Proven System to the Philippines
Art of Eight introduces Bang Muay Thai (BMT), a program that combines Traditional Muay Thai, Dutch Kickboxing, and Boxing. Instead of focusing on one-on-one sessions, Art of Eight offers community-based classes that are structured and progressive.
The classes are designed for all fitness levels. Beginners make up most of the participants, but those with intermediate or advanced martial arts backgrounds also find the sessions challenging and rewarding.
Meeting Growing Demand for Fitness in Manila
The launch comes at a time when fitness communities in the Philippines are growing rapidly. More Filipinos are exploring group activities such as indoor cycling, pickleball, yoga, and martial arts to stay active, manage stress, and build confidence. Art of Eight responds to this trend with a structured Bang Muay Thai program that makes martial arts training both accessible and results-driven.
As of July 31, 2025, Art of Eight has already welcomed over 100 members. The community is notably diverse, with 63 percent of attendees being women. This inclusive environment reflects the gym’s mission that martial arts should be open to everyone, regardless of background or experience.
A Voice from Art of Eight
“We are building something special at Art of Eight,” said Mikko Banaag, General Manager of Art of Eight. “Martial arts should be for everyone, and with Bang Muay Thai’s structured system, people can experience real progress and confidence, whether it is their first day or their hundredth class.”
What Makes Bang Muay Thai Different
Art of Eight members train in a supportive, community-focused environment
Bang Muay Thai is a curriculum-based training system that helps students progress step by step. Developed by Duane “Bang” Ludwig, known for coaching UFC fighters and refining striking techniques at the highest level, the system is both approachable and competition-proven.
At Art of Eight, classes currently focus on fitness, technique, and structured progression, making them ideal for beginners and enthusiasts who want to build a solid foundation. As the community grows, future offerings will also include sparring and more advanced training options for those who want to test their skills in a competitive setting.
