MANILA, Philippines–The Philippines captured the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games baseball competition after drubbing Thailand, 15-2, in the championship game at the Clark International Sports Complex in Angeles on Sunday.
The Filipino squad began pulling away from the Thais in the first four innings, quickly opening a 14-0 lead at the middle of the fourth inning.
Thailand finally got on the board come the bottom of the fourth with two runs, but the Philippines has already built a huge lead that further swelled when the home team scored again in the next three innings.
In the first game, Indonesia turned back Singapore, 10-4, for the bronze.
The Indons slowly pulled away from the Singaporeans, scoring a run each in the first, third, fourth, and seventh innings.
Indonesia eventually broke loose after scoring six runs in the eighth inning that eventually iced the win.
