DAVAO CITY — Southpaw Edison “Kamatis” Berwela of Muntinlupa City will fight orthodox Daisuke Sugita of Japan for the World Boxing Association Asia super bantamweight title at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, on November 30.
The 36-year-old Berwela (18W-42L-8D, 6KO) scored two wins out of three in 2019.
Berwela started by retiring Dado Cabintoy of Parañaque in the 7th round last March 8 in Angono, Rizal then beat by a unanimous decision over Zoren Pama of Cebu last Aug. 3 in Parañaque City.
However, Berwela lost by a unanimous decision to Erick Deztroyer of Indonesia last Oct. 12 in Surabaya, Indonesia. Sugita, on the other hand, has five wins with three knockouts against one loss.
The 31-year-old Sugita recently beat Crison Omayao of Bukidnon by a unanimous decision last Aug. 3 in Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque.
The fight is promoted by Chih Lai Kuo with Zhiguo Zhang as the matchmaker. (PNA)
