Three Pinoy skaters will vie for the qualifying berths in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics as they are set to compete in 2 major skating competitions at the start of the competition season.

Philippine Skating Union (PHSU) announced Friday night that figure skaters, Fil-Am young prospect Sofia Frank and Fil-Canadian standout Edrian Paul Celestino and short track speed skater Julian Macaraeg have chosen to become the country’s representatives in the qualifier tilts.

Frank, who recently committed to become part of the national team and won the gold medal in the Cup of Colorado last weekend, will participate in the CS Nebelhorn Tourney set September 22 in Oberstdorf, Germany. She will be joined by Celestino, a Philippine national champion and 2019 SEA Games fourth-placer, who recently topped the Olympic qualifier evaluation, beating Christopher Caluza and Michael Martinez.

2019 Winter Youth Olympian Macaraeg will also chase for her Winter Olympic dream as he is set to return to action in the World Cup Leg 1 – 4 on October to November.

Meanwhile, Martinez, a 2-time Winter Olympian (2014 & 2018) has been withdrawed for competing in the Nebelhorn Trophy to concentrate on the full recovery from his on-and-off injuries while training in Russia, PHSU confirms.

Martinez, who recently hold his own online fundraising drive for the Winter Olympics campaign, decided to solely focus on much longer preparations for upcoming international tournaments.
