LOS ANGELES– When Canelo Alvarez climbs the ring this Saturday in hopes to unify the super middleweight title belts against Caleb Plant, the Mexican superstar will have a legend rooting for him somewhere in the Philippines.

Boxing’s only eight-division champ has since retired from the sport and is currently making a run for president of his country in the upcoming May 2022 national elections.
Pacquaio had always been a “fan” of Alvarez, often tweeting congratulatory messages when he wins, but this recent rooting interest is personal.
Jimuel Pacquiao, a budding fighter himself and one of Manny’s children, went to San Diego, California last month to train and get pointers from the current pound-for-pound king.
As Jimuel told reporters in the Philippines, it was a memorable experience that left him loaded with more wisdom than when he came.
The reigning and defending WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight champion, Alvarez totes an impressive record of 56-1-2 with 38 knockouts. He is a prohibitive minus 1250 favorite, meaning you would have to bet $1250 on him to win $100.
Plant, meanwhile is the IBF champion who wields a 21-0 slate with 12 stoppages. He is a plus 630 underdog, meaning a $100 wager on him will win $630.
