LOS ANGELES — After keeping his WBO bantamweight belt against a retreating, reluctant combatant — Cuban runner and challenger Guillermo Rigondeaux — John Riel Casimero is moving on to bigger, brighter things.
“He wants (Nonito Jr) Donaire next,” Sean Gibbons, the president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, told Sports On Air on Sunday.
Not John Riel’s fault, though.
“He came to fight,” said Gibbons. “In the best shape of his life.”
Rigondeaux’s inaction led to only a total of a combined 91 punches landed by the two protagonists.
But there should be no such issues when Donaire and Casimero collides sometime in November or December.
Hopefully, Gibbons can weave his magic and make it happen. Like he always does. (NRR)
