December 6, 2019 – Singapore take Vietnam to school as they snatched the gold in women’s team foil event.
The team of Amita Berthier, Tatiana Wong, and Maxine Wong took care of business at the World Trade Center, 45-29.
The trio did not let Nguyen Thu Phuong, Do Thi Anh, and Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong grab any bout or lead in the entire match.
It was the 2017 gold medalist Berthier who sealed the deal and gave Singapore the victory when she scored the final point against Do.
Thailand and Philippines took the bronze after being eliminated in the semifinals.
The champions took Thailand to another 45-29 beating, while Vietnam enjoyed a closer matchup with the hosts 45-36.
