December 9, 2019 – The Philippines karatedo team take three bronze medals in the last day of men’s competitions at the World Trade Center in Pasay.
The men’s kata team, composed of Adam Bondoc, Mark Andrew Manantan, and John Enrico Vasquez clinched third place in the repechage phase of men’s team kata.
Performing the Anan routine, the trio scored 23.74 points, better than the 23.14 points set by the Myanmar trio.
Sharief Afif claimed the third place finish in the plus-75 kilogram kumite in the repechage phase.
Afif dominated Vibol Sreang of Cambodia 5-0 in the three-minute bout to add to the host nation’s tally.
Ivan Christopher Agustin secured another bronze medal, this time in the under-75 kumite event.
Agustin bested Zaw Min Htet of Myanmar, mauling his opponent in three minutes with a 11-4 beating.
