BINAN — Kaya Iloilo and Stallion Laguna finished their group stage campaign in the Copa Paulino Alcantara with a 1-1 draw at the Binan Football Stadium on Wednesday.
However, the stalemate was enough for Kaya Iloilo to nail the top seed in Group B on a superior goal difference over Stallion Laguna, which finished their preliminary campaign tied at four points.
Jayson Panhay gave Kaya Iloilo the lead–and some sort of an insurance in sealing the number one spot–with a 59th minute goal.
Koichi Belgira tied the match for Stallion Laguna with a 73rd minute free kick as the home side finally forced its opponent to drop points this year.
Both clubs will await the result of the nightcaps, all Group A battles, to determine their respective semifinal opponents.
Ceres Negros is aiming to take the top seed in Group A against Green Archers United at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City.
The U22 Azkals and Mendiola are disputing the last semifinal seat also at the Binan Football Stadium. (PNA)
