December 10, 2019 – The Philippines and current ONE Championship fighter Gina Iniong clinched the gold medal at the kicklight event of kickboxing.
Iniong ruled over opponent Apichaya Mingkwan of Thailand in the under-55 kilogram category.
The Filipino countered every spinning kick of the Thai, who has a taekwondo background, with punches which landed significantly on the latter.
Mingkwan fell several times during the bout but did not receive the eight-count.
The Filipino won all three rounds, scoring 2-0, 3-0, and 3-0, en route to a gold medal finish.
A member of the Filipino mixed martial arts stable Team Lakay, Iniong said in an interview that she’s going back on a bout in ONE Championship, which will happen January next year.
