DALLAS — Hours before tip-off of Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals, Kristaps Porzingis learned his fate.

Despite his willingness to play and “die out here,” the Boston Celtics have ruled out their star big due to what the team described as a “rare injury” to his left leg.

The 7-foot-2 Porzingis was an integral part of the Celtics regular season success where they won 64 games to claim the No.1 overall seed in the playoffs.

After averaging 20.1 points and 7.2 rebounds in the regular season, Poringis starred in Game 1 of the Finals by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. In Game 2 he added 12 markers and 4 boards to help Boston soar to a 2-0 series lead.
