December 2, 2019 – The Philippines and Cambodia shared the gold medals alloted on the padded stick event on the second day of Arnis competitions held inside the Angeles University Foundation Gym on Monday.
Jesper Huquire won the gold in the male’s bantamweight division after beating Vietnamese opponent Van Cong Quoc.
Elmer Manlapas delivered another gold medal for the Philippines in the featherweight division after defeating Nguyen Duc Tri from Vietnam.
Cambodian contingent Mengly Yong added a gold medal for Cambodia as he held off Filipino opponent Billy Joel Valenzuela in the lightweight category.
Philippines’ Carloyd Tejada won in the welterweight division, defeating Vietnam’s Vuong Thanh Tung.
The third day of Arnis will feature the Anyo form of the sport, with four medals at stake for both traditional and non-traditional open weapon events.
