BINAN, Philippines–Myanmar moved on to the semifinals of the Southeast Asian Games men’s football tournament after beating Cambodia, 2-1, at the Binan Football Stadium on Monday night.
Myanmar, which will take the day off in the final matchday for Group A on Wednesday, fought back from a goal down to seal its place in the Final Four without needing to wait on what is going to happen in the remaining matches.
Cambodia got into the scoreboard first when Sin Sophanat struck a goal in the 21st minute.
However, Lwin Moe Aung equalized in the 27th minute, and after almost an hour, substitute Aung Kaung Mann scored the game-winner in the 86th minute.
Myanmar topped Group A with 10 points, while Cambodia remains tied with the Philippines and Malaysia, 4-0 winner over Timor Leste in a simultaneous action at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, for second place.
Cambodia and Malaysia will face off at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, while the Philippines will host Timor Leste in simultaneous kickoffs on Wednesday.
