Meralco forces semis Game 5 against TNT

MANILA — Meralco came back from a slow start to turn back TNT, 95-83, in Game 4 of the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Saturday night.

The Bolts slowly came back from 4-15 down in the first five minutes of the game and overturned it with a 33-point second quarter for a 51-45 halftime lead.

They then held the KaTropa to just 15 points in the fourth quarter to seal the breakaway.

Allen Durham put up 36 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and one steal for Meralco, which forced the deciding Game 5 on Monday night back at the Ynares Center.

Baser Amer added 12 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

KJ McDaniels made 26 markers, nine caroms, three dimes, one swipe, and two swats for TNT, who missed out on joining Barangay Ginebra in the finals in its first try.

Ginebra completed a huge comeback from a 34-point loss in Game 1, winning the next three games against NorthPort to return to the finals via a 120-107 victory on Friday.

With their win, the Gin Kings have a chance to win their third Governor’s Cup title in four years. (PNA)
