SAN FRANCISCO — It was rained buckets Tuesday night at Chase Center where Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole led the way as the short-handed Warriors ourlasted the visiting Charlotte Hornets, 110-105.
Thompson and Poole kept their foot on the gas, filling in nicely for the injured Stephen Curry. Thompson finished with 29 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the filed while Poole added 24 points, six asissts and a pair of rebounds.
Jonathan Kuminga provided meanigful contributuon off the bench, tallying 14 points and six rebounds in 23 minutes of action. Kuminga, a product of the NBA’s Ignite team in the G-League went 6-of-6 from the field.
“if coach (Steve Kerr) trusts you and puts you in there, you’ve got to go and execute things and make things happen,” said the sophomore forward.
Trailing by as many as 18 points in the third quarter, the Hornets went on a furious rally to tie the score in the fourth quarter.
It wasn’t enough, however, as Charotte only made 38 of their 92 shots (41.3 percent) and 10-of-38 from 3-point range (26.3 percent). The Hornets were also beaten off the boards, 49-47, and finished with just 22 assists against the Warriors’ 31.
Lamelo Ball led the way for the Hornets with Ball 21 points and 10 rebounds. P.J. Washington and Gordon Hayward contributed 14 points apiece.
The Warriors improved their record to 17-18 while the Hornets fell to 9-26.
