BOSTON — The once-vaunted, and almost forgotten dynasty is showing highly visible signs of life.
After a two-year absence precipitated by a spate of injuries and manpower turnover, the Golden State Warriors are on the brink of another NBA Finals appearance.
Steph Curry swished five 3s on the way to 31 points to lead the Warriors to a 109-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks for a commanding 3-0 lead in their best-of-7 Western Conference Finals showdown.
Before their two-season break from the main stage, the Warriors made five straight NBA Finals trips from 2015 to 2019, winning three titles in the process.
“I love the position we’re in. I love the fact that our team came in and got the win tonight. This was the one we felt like we had to get. Coming here up 2-0, you’ve got to take advantage of your momentum,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters following his team’s decisive triumph at a full house American Airlines Center.
Like they’ve demonstrated throghout this post-season run, Golden State is flexing the might of their depth and experience.
Andrew Wiggins rolled with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Klay Thompson scattered 19 while Draymond Green filled the stats box,this time with 10 rebonds, five dimes and five rebounds.
Jordan Poole chipped in 10 off the bench for the Warriors, who shot 46.9 percent from the field (38 of 81).
Luke Doncic led the Mavericks with 40.
Doncic showed the stuff that made him an All-Star and the future face of the league but Dallas shot just 40 percent from the field (30 of 75) and 28.9 percent from 3 (13 of 45.)
