LAS VEGAS – The Chicago Bulls got a bit of good and bad news about Lonzo Ball yesterday when the team hosted their annual Media Day festivities at the United Center.
Ball confirmed what had already been previously speculated, that he will miss his second straight NBA season following three surgeries on his left knee in a year.
But the No.2 overall pick of the 2017 draft left the door open for a return to court.
“I definitely plan on playing again,” Ball told reporters. “After surgery three, I feel like it’s going well so far — no setbacks. So for mer, it’s just keep my head up, just keep doing the work,” he told ESPN.
After a one-year college stint with the UCLA Bruins, Ball was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers where he played for two seasons before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in a blockbuster trade in July 2019.
Two years later, Ball was shipped to Chicago for Tomas Satoransky and Garrett Temple
The 25-year old Ball has played a total of five NBA seasons and has averaged 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per. He shoots 44 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from 3.
