SACRAMENTO — In the end, the championship mettle of the Golden State Warriors came shining through.

Steph Curry dropped 50 points to lead the defending champions to a convincing Game 7 victory on the road, besting the host Sacramento Kings, 120-100 on Sunday afternoon at the Golden Center.

The Warriors broke a tight contest wide open with a 35-23 third quarter blast before finally disposing of the resilient Kings with a 29-19 fourth quarter kick.

Curry’s 50-point explosion came on a torrid 20-of-38 shooting from the field, including 7-of-18 from long distance. Slightly off from the free throw line where he went just 3-for-5, Curry also gathered eight rebounds and issued six dimes.

Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins combined for 33 points while Kevon Looney did a masterful job manning the middle with 21 rebounds, including 10 off the offensive boards. Looney added 11 points to his haul.

“It’s amazing cuz you’re still in the fight. Better than the alternative of on the outside looking in. Having been down 0-2 in this series, nothing was guaranteed, you don’t take anythng for guaranteed,” said Curry as his Warriors face the Los Angeles Lakers in a best-of-7 series for a place in the Western Conferene Finals.

This isn’t Curry’s first rodeo.

The two-time regular season MVP is a four-time NBA champion and a one-time NBA Finals MVP.

“What an incredible performance. This is a Game 7 I’ll forever remember as the Steph Curry game,” said Klay Thompson, Curry’s famous Splash Brother.

Damontas Sabonis flirted with a triple-double with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. De’Aaron Fox, dealing with a fractured finger, managed 16 points while Malik Monk added 14 off the bench for Sacramento.

But the Kings couldn’t get their high-powered offense going, hitting just 35-of-96 from the field (37.5 percent) and 12-of-47 from long distance (25.5 percent).
