INGLEWOOD — A strong crowd of 18,000 tuned out at the spanking new Intuit Dome on Monday night (Tuesday AM in Manila).

Although most in attendance were there to cheer for their hometown Los Angeles Clippers, many came for an extra treat.

Watching Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-3 beanpole who was taken by the San Antonio Spurs as the No.1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

The 206-pound center did not disappoint with 24 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. He drilled 9-of-22 field goals and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw stripe but the sophomore sensation was off from the 3-point line, hitting only 2-of-9).

To make matters worse, Wemby and the San Antonio Spurs fell to the Clippers after squandering a 26-point lead, 114-103. Norman Powell had a 23-point outburst and Amir Coffey added 21 while Ivica Zubac and James Harden pitched in 17 points apiece.

The Spurs got 21 points from Julian Champagnie but San Antonio hit only 38 of 86 shots and 11 of 41 from 3.
