LOS ANGELES — After a stellar season where he won the Rookie of the Year award last year, Victor Wembanyama reached another milestone on Thursday night.

The 7-foot-3, 235-lb center of the San Antonio Spurs is officially an All-Star after the NBA announced the reserves to the annual mid-season classic.

It’s a well-deserved honor that Spurs legend Tony Parker expected from the lanky 21-year old from France.

“He can be whatever he wants. He can be the best player in the NBA,” said Parker, whose ballclub Wembanyama once played for prior to him being selected as the No.1 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.

Wembanyama appeared in 39 games this season where he is averaging 24.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per while leading San Antonio to a 20-24 record in a very tough Western Conference.

The All-Star selection adds to Wembanyama’s collection of achievements  that includes being a member of the NBA All-Defensive Team and the NBA  All-Rookie Team both in 2024. He was also the blocks leader last season.

Joining Wembanyama in the West Conference reserves are Anthony Davis (Lakers), Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves), James Harden (Clippers), Jaren Jackson Jr. (Grizzlies), Alperan Sengun (Rockets) and Jalen Williams (Thunder).

The 2025 NBA All-Star festivities will take place from February 14 to 16 in San Francisco.
