Pacio keeps One strawweight belt after winning all-Filipino bout

MANILA — Joshua Pacio retained the One strawweight title after he subdued fellow Filipino Rene Catalan at One: Masters of Fate at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Friday night.

Pacio, who survived a leglock attempt from Catalan in Round 1, performed an arm-triangle choke in Round 2 that forced Catalan to tap out at the 2:29 mark of the round.

Pacio was successful in his first title defense of his second tenure as champion.

In the co-main event, Eduard Folayang prevailed over Mongolia’s Amarsanaa Tsogookhuu via technical decision after an accidental headbutt in the second round of their fight opened a huge cut below Folayang’s left eye that forced its stoppage.

Geje Eustaquio, on the other hand, knocked out Toni Tauru, thanks to a 180-degree reverse kick to the body that floored Tauru for good, meaning that Team Lakay went 3-0 in the fight card. (PNA)
