LAS VEGAS — With one day left to go before showtime, Manny Pacquiao remains a solid betting favorite over Yodernis Ugas this Saturday night (Sunday morning RP time) at the T-Mobile Arena here in Sin City.
Per the latest odds, the Filipino sensation, boxing’s only eight-division champ is at minus 370 (bet $370 to win $100) while Ugas is a plus 270 underdog (bet $100 to win $270).
The official weigh-in is scheduled Friday afternoon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“I will not underestimate him,” said the fighting Senator despite the lofty predictions that he will wrest the WBA welterweight title from the grips of the 35-year old Cuban.
Ugas, a last minute replacement after Errol Spence withdrew due to a partially-torn retina, enjoys a height, reach and age advantage over Pacquiao. The 35-year old Cuban is an Olympic bronze medalist with over 500 amateur bouts in his resume.
But the legendary Pacquiao packs a bigger punch as reflected by his 67-7-2 record with 39 KOs), Ugas, meanwhile, has only 12 KOs in 27 bouts with four defeats.
Pacquiao is coming off a 25-month layoff induced by the pandemic but his trainer, Freddie Roach, insists that his prized ward has shed off the rust in training camp and is in the best shape of his life.
The Pacquiao-Ugas tiff can be viewed and streamed for free in the Philippines but in the U.S. and Canada it is only avalable on pay-per-view at $74.99 (NRR)
