Sambo: Indonesia prevails for Gold in Mixed Team Category

December 7, 2019- Relentless strength and heart highlighted Indonesia’s Gold Medal display for the mixed team Category of Sambo. It was a highly contested matchup as Indonesia inched out a nail bitter winning 2 out of 4 singles at the Angeles City Gymnasium for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Indonesia’s Desiana Syafitri drew first blood against Sasipilai Chaisang of Thailand in the 1st Single. The Malaysian’s answered back taking the 2nd Single led by Suppatra Nanong defeating Emma Ramadinah.

It went down to the wire as Thailand used their momentum of the 2nd Single to bag the third one as well with the efforts of Arthit Khuansathan defeating Erik Gustam, inching themselves 1 more win away from the glorious Gold.

With their backs against the wall, the Indonesian’s refused to go down as Rio Bahari brought back the Indonesian’s hope for a first-place podium finish against Sonram Jenghor of Thailand.

Despite the heart shown by team Malaysia, it was the Indonesians’ day today coming out with the coveted Gold.
