DAVAO CITY–Orthodox Ernesto “Chocolate” Saulong of Mindoro Occidental will fight southpaw Alie “Demolition Man” Laurel of General Santos City for the vacant World Boxing Organization Oriental super bantamweight title on Nov. 10 at the Southern Quezon Convention Center in Gumaca, Quezon.
Saulong (22W-5L-2D, 9KO) won the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation super bantamweight title over Junjie Lauza of General Santos City by retirement in the 4th round last Dec. 28 in Muntinlupa City.
The 30-year-old Saulong, however, settled for a technical draw with Jhunriel “Prinsipe Abante” Ramonal of Laguna last Feb. 13 in Baras, Rizal.
In his outing, Saulong lost to undefeated Brock Jarvis of Australia by a unanimous decision on Aug. 31 in Victoria, Australia.
Laurel, on the other hand, has 16 wins with 10 knockouts against four loses and one draw.
The 27-year-old Laurel has won two bouts in his comeback bid in 2019. He first TKO’d Visut Tamkhuntod of Thailand in the 3rd round in Bangkok, Thailand last Jan. 26.
Laurel then settled for a unanimous decision over Lloyd Jardeliza of Manila last Aug. 3 in Mandaluyong City.
Meanwhile, super feather MJ Uduna, super light Ador Torres and flyweight Romeo Tenorio will face separate unnamed opponents for the vacant LuzProma titles.
