December 6, 2019- Powerhouse Myanmar booked its ticket for the Gold Medal match of Sepak Takraw after beating the Philippines, 2-1, in the men’s double event of the 30th South East Asian Games, Thursday at the Subic Gymnasium.
The opening regu of the highly anticipated Sepak Takraw matchup featured the Philippines drawing first blood, 21-15 and 21-17, as Myanmar had its backs against the wall.
However, during the second regu, Vietnam fired back at the home team with a 21-16 and 21-13 outing.
The final regu was all dominance from the Vietnamese powerhouse with final scores of 21-13 and 21-12.
Myanmar’s victory over the Philippines places them at a battle for the coveted Gold Medal against Indonesia.
While the Philippines, after a hard-fought effort, earned the right to a Bronze Medal finish.
