Shooting: Avila takes last bronze for PH as Indonesia goes 1-2

December 8, 2019 – Diogenes Avila shoots his way to a bronze medal finish for the Philippines on the last day of shooting events at the Marine Corps Training Center.

Avila tallied 30 points, shooting eight points each on a chicken and a pig, and seven apiece for the turkey and ram at the mixed metallic silhouette air rifle event.

Fellow Filipino shooter Ronaldo Hejastro failed to make it to a medal finish as he only scored 29, but tallied nine points on the pig target.

Indonesia, meanwhile, added a gold and a silver in its pocket as Ahmad Rifqi Mukhlisin and Hadika Aubrey Rasendriya Athaya both tallied 35 points.

It was Mukhsilin, however, who took the gold medal after a deliberation, with Athaya taking the bronze instead.

The wins of Philippines and Indonesia sealed the shooting competition, with the two participating countries leading the medal tally in the said event.

Indonesia took home a total of seven golds, six silvers, and two bronzes, while the Philippines came second with two medals each for gold and silver, and a bronze medal.
