The Philadelphia 76ers have traded rookie guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for four future draft picks, reshaping their asset base ahead of the trade deadline.
Philadelphia will receive a 2026 first-round pick originally owned by Houston, along with three second-round selections. Those include the most favorable 2027 second-round pick among Oklahoma City, Houston, Indiana, and Miami, plus two 2028 second-round picks from Milwaukee and Oklahoma City. The deal gives the Sixers added flexibility as they continue to balance short-term competitiveness with long-term planning.

McCain, the 16th overall selection in the 2024 NBA Draft, showed flashes of scoring ability but struggled to secure a consistent role in Philadelphia’s crowded backcourt. Injuries slowed his development, including a meniscus tear last season and thumb surgery prior to the current campaign. He averaged modest numbers while playing limited minutes off the bench.
For Oklahoma City, the trade adds young depth and upside to an already deep roster. With injuries affecting parts of their guard rotation, McCain gets a fresh opportunity in a system known for player development.
The Sixers, meanwhile, convert a young prospect into multiple future assets, positioning themselves for roster moves both now and in seasons to come.
