Taekwondo: Philippines snares 3, Vietnam takes 1 in indy poomsae

December 7, 2019 – The Philippines grabs three gold medals while Vietnam ends the day with a win at the individual poomsae events at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Rodolfo Reyes Jr. opened the competition with a win on the male individula recognized poomsae, beating six other athletes.

The Filipino tallied 8.349 points for the gold medal, while Thailand’s Pattarapong Sengmueang took home the silver.

Sun Shine meanwhile took the bronze for Myanmar with 7.849 points.

Jocel Lyn Ninobla nipped Ornawee Srisahakit of Thailand to claim the gold in women’s individual recognized poomsae for the Philippines.

Ninobla tallied 8.433, compared to Srisahakit’s 8.432.

Le Tran Kim Uyen of Vietnam completed the podium, tallying 8.419 points.

It was Jeordan Dominguez who made it three in a row for the Philippines, this time in men’s individual freestyle.

Domiguez tallied 7.433, a far cry from the second placer Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hy of Vietnam, who got 6.999.

Wawan Saputra completed the podium, getting the bronze for Indonesia.

Vietnam denies Philippines a full sweep in individual poomsae, as Nguyen Thi Mong Quynh grabbed the gold in women’s individual freestyle.

Thi Mong Quynh listed 7.433 en route to first place, while Janna Dominique Oliva of the Philippines got 6.766 to get second place.

Sakuna Laosoongnearn of Thailand took the bronze with 6.599 points.
