Team Eggs Benedict, a squad put up by varsity volleyball standouts from provincial-based squads ruled as champion of the recent Volleyball eSports Online Charity Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Tournament over the weekend.

Eggs Benedict, which were composed by team captain Karen Goyena (Bicol University), Kamille R. Verches and Maricar B. Sarza (Divine World College of Legazpi), Mark Guray and Aldren Dela Coste (University of Northeastern Philippines) pull off a 2-1 victory in the best-of-3 finals affair against the San Beda Lady Spikers (Miles Gregorio, Lyn Matias, Patchie Cenzon, China Tannagan and Nicole Laguna), ending by a score of 24-14 in the deciding match.

San Beda topped the first game in a closely-fought fashion with a 29-30 score, but it was Eggs Benedict whose managed to tie the finals series, and eventually won the championship afterwards. On their part, Eggs Benedict were very combative, keeping them away from getting more kills and capitalizing the errors of the opponents.

In the semifinals, Eggs Benedict toppled down Tremendous Clan, 2-0, while San Beda swept Sta. Lucia, 2-0.

After the tournament, DoubleTap Gaming Entertainment and Sports Bytes Philippines are eyeing more eSports tournaments in the near future and plans to invite national and professional athletes and coaches in their upcoming tilts.

Among those who will benefit for the Smart and Sta. Lucia-sponsored tournament are the medical frontliners from the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Hospital, San Juan Medical Center and Mandaluyong City Medical Center.
