Team PH ready for SEA Games: deputy chef de mission

MANILA — All athletes who will represent the Philippines in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games are ready for the meet, Team Philippines deputy chef de mission, Stephen Fernandez, said Friday.

Sa mga atleta at coaches natin at mga nakakausap namin (Our athletes and coaches we have spoken to), they’re ready already,” Fernandez told Judith Caringal and Chariza de Vera in an interview over Radyo Pilipinas 2.

The former taekwondo athlete even relayed a chat he had with some coaches at the Team Philippines secretariat earlier in the day.

“They’re very optimistic na sa laro na ito (that in this game), they will do well,” Fernandez said. “They’re in high spirits. With all the training they received, with all the support the PSC (Philippine Sports Commission) and the POC (Philippine Olympic Committee) have given to them, mataas po ang morale ng mga atleta natin (our athletes’ morale is high).”

This year’s SEA Games, to be held in various locations in Luzon, will formally start on November 30, although the meet will actually start on Sunday with the kickoff of the polo event at the Miguel Romero Polo Field in Calatagan. (PNA)
