UST mauls Letran to open PCCL campaign

MANILA — The University of Santo Tomas made a statement to begin its stint in the PCCL NCAA-UAAP Challenge, clobbering Letran, 95-65, at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City on Saturday.

The Growling Tigers pulled away from the Knights after outscoring them 29-11, in the second quarter, coupled by a 20-10 third quarter.

CJ Cansino led UST, which will play Ateneo on Sunday in a rematch of last year’s UAAP Finals, with 13 points on 3-for-5 triples, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals in a little under 11 minutes of play.

Chabi Chabi Yo added 12 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Kurt Reyson and Pao Javillonar each had 12 markers for Letran.
