CEBU – The KCS Computer Specialist Mandaue squad came out victorious in a 77-66 win over a depleted ARQ Builders Lapu-Lapu City Heroes team during the Pilipinas Vismin Super Cup Visayas leg in the Alcantara Civic Center.
The game started with Lapu-Lapu dictating early proceedings, as Jerick Canada led the team with seven points in the first quarter. The ARQ Builders finished the period with an 8-point lead over the Mandaue contingent.
Mandaue fought back, and narrowed the Lapu-Lapu lead down to three points, as Gryann Mendoza scored 11 points to tighten the gap coming into the second half. The momentum eventually shifted towards the KCS Computer Specialist team, as they took a five-point lead towards the end of the third quarter.
The game ended with Mandaue completing the turnaround, as the game finished with an 11-point gap.
Mandaue’s superior defensive showing reflected on the scoreline, as they recorded 10 steals and nine blocks to secure the win. They also took advantage of Lapu-Lapu’s 20 turnovers to complete the comeback.
KCS Computer Specialist’ Gryann Mendoza topped the scoring charts with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Rhaffy Octobre wasn’t far behind as he contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
VIncent Minguito finished the game with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists for the ARQ Builders. Rino Berame also posted 12 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
KCS Computer Specialist Mandaue look to continue their winning ways as they face the Dumaguete Warriors on April 21, at 3:00PM. Meanwhile, the ARQ Builders Lapu-Lapu City Heroes pit themselves against the Tubigon Bohol Mariners at 7:00PM, on the same day. Both matches will be held at the Alcantara Civic Center.
