SAN FRANCISCO –A professional athlete’s prime usually peaks at age 28 before beginning to descend at 32.

But Steph Curry is not just any other ordinary athlete.

Now 33 with three championships to his name, the 6-foot-3 Golden State Warriors guard has just been named as one of the three finalists for this season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, joining centers Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

A panel of 100 sporstwriters and broadcasters from the United States and Canada will vote to determine the winner.

If it were up to LeBron James, though, the golden statue named in honor of Maurice Podoloff belongs to Curry.

“I mean just look at what he’s done this year. I don’t know anything else if you’re looking for an MVP. If Steph is not on Golden State’s team, what are we looking at? We get caught up in the records sometimes. We get caught up in the OK, who has the best record, instead of just saying who had the best season that year. And Steph has had, in my opinion, the best season all year,” the Lakers superstar told Bleacher Report.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Curry has won the award back-to-back in 2015 and 2016, and a third one will put him alongisde legends Magic Johnson and Moses Malone who each have three.

While this potential third MVP crown is unlikely to come with a championship it will be just as sweet as it arrives at a time when the Warriors have been ravaged by injuries not to mention the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has abbreviated the schedule to 72 games.

A seven-time All-Star, Curry already pocketed this season’s scoring title with 32 points per. He also averaged 5.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game in 63 games. He is shooting 48.2 percent from the field and a remarkable 43.1 percent clip from 3-point land.

The 7th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Curry has appeared in 762 regular season games so far and norms 24.2 points per while converting 43.3 percent of his 3-point attempts. (ES).
