WNBA: Sky Fail to Weather the Storm

CHICAGO – The Seattle Storm’s 111-100 victory Tuesday night over the Chicago Sky was one for the record books.

They set a WNBA record for assists in a game with 37. They also set a franchise scoring record of 66 points in the first half.

Seattle drained nine of their first 11 shots and finished the first quarter with a 38-26 lead. They would keep their lead for the rest of the game. Despite leading by as much as 22 in the second half, the Storm only won by 11 following a 13-4 run by the Sky to close the game.

Breanna Stewart notched 25 points and nine rebounds this outing, Gabby Williams scored 21 points and seven assists, and Sue Bird had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Storm.’

Chicago was led by Courtney Vandersloot’s 28 points and seven assists. Kahleah Cooper contributed 17 points and three assists and Candace Parker added 14 points and seven rebounds.

Chicago’s defeat drops their record to 25-9 but they remain the No. 1 seed. The Las Vegas Aces sit only 1 game behind them in second place.

Seattle, now 21-13, moves to the No. 4 seed one game ahead of the Washington Mystics.
