After a hard-earned 95-92 overtime victory against the Connecticut Sun on July 31, the Chicago Sky kept their place on top of the WNBA standings with an imposing 23-7 won-lost record.
However, with a few weeks left in the 2021-22 regular season, the No. 1 overall seed is still up for grabs, with the No. 2 Las Vegas Aces only one game behind at 22-8 and the No. 3 Sun three games back at 20-10.
Regardless of where they eventually end up with the smoke clears, it is clear that the defending champions look primed for another strong post-season run.
Despite being sidelined this weekend for a non-COVID illness, forward Candace Parker is having a productive season, averaging 13.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Guard Kahleah Copper is notching 14.8 points and 2.2 assists a match.
The Sky have won eight of their last 10 games.
The WNBA playoffs start on August 17 with a new format pitting No. 1 vs No. 8, No. 2 vs No. 7, No. 3 vs No. 6, and No. 4 vs No. 5.
Until then, the Sky have six games left, including an August 7 rematch versus the Sun and an August 11 contest against the Aces.
