MANILA — Zamboanga strengthened its bid to seal a Top 4 finish in the Southern Division of the MPBL Lakan Season after drubbing Imus, 88-72, at the Winsports Arena in Calgary, Canada on Saturday (Philippine Time).
Zamboanga stifled Imus in the second quarter, holding its opponent to just 13 points to break away for good.
Alvin Pasaol scored 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting with six rebounds, one assist, and one block for Zamboanga, which moved up to 16-10 in the standings, a half-game behind GenSan for third place in the South.
Aaron Black added 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Jun-Jun Bonsubre went perfect 3-for-3 from the field and finished with seven markers alongside nine boards, two dimes, and two blocks.
Gerald Anderson put up 14 markers, three caroms, five dimes, and two steals for also-ran Imus, which slipped further to 6-20.
The league will take the New Year’s week off and will return to action on Jan. 6. (PNA)
