Athletics: Philippines’ Knott wins 200-meter race in record-setting style

LOS BANOS, Philippines–Kristina Knott broke the Southeast Asian Games record for the 200-meter run en route to the gold medal in the final of the said dash at the New Clark City Athletic Stadium in Capas on Saturday night.

Knott ruled the race with the time of 23.01 seconds, breaking the old record set by Thailand’s Supavadee Khawpeag in 2001, which was at 23.3 seconds.

Knott actually shattered Khawpeag’s record already as early as the first heat earlier in the day, when she finished at 23.07 seconds.

Le Tu Chinh of Vietnam took home the silver with the time of 23.45 seconds, while Veronica Pereira of Indonesia won the bronze with the time of 23.77 ticks.
