December 10, 2019 – Filipino long-distance runner Joida Gagnao runs to a bronze medal finish in the five-kilometer run at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium.
Gagnao ran the course within 17 minutes and 52.17 seconds, enough to make the podium.
Gagnao’s run denied Timor-Leste a sixth bronze medal as Rubia Fatima Martins finished the race fourth, eight seconds later than the Filipino.
It was a 1-2 finish for Vietnam, however, as Nguyen Thi Oanh claims the gold medal for her country, finishing the race in 16 minutes and 45 seconds.
23-year old Pham Thi Hue finished second, clocking 6.5 seconds later than his compatriot.
