Ex-OPBF champ Dacquel to fight Dec. 14

DAVAO CITY — Former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight champion Rene “Commander” Dacquel of Abra will fight Jeo “Santino” Santisima of Masbate on Dec. 14 at Bogo City Sports & Cultural Complex in Bogo, Cebu.

The 28-year-old Dacquel (20W-9L-1D, 6KO) won his third OPBF title last 2017 over Hayato Kimura of Japan.

However, in his 4th title defense, Dacquel lost by a unanimous decision to Andrew Moloney of Australia for the OPBF and WBA Oceania super flyweight title in St., Kilda, Australia on Feb. 24, 2018.

He tried to bounce back by fighting Yanga Singgibo of South Africa but failed as he lost by a split decision in the vacant WBC International on July 27 in Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Dacquel, who has no manager, fought but lost for the vacant Philippine bantamweight title against Giovanni Escaner of Sultan Kudarat by retirement in the 5th round on Dec. 22 in Parañaque City.

Santasima (18W-2L-0D, 15KO), on the other hand, knocked out Alvius Maufani of Indonesia in the 1st round on Aug. 17 in Parañaque.

Earlier, Santasima successfully defended the WBC Oriental super bantamweight title by a UD over Uriel Lopez of Mexico last Nov. 24 in Cebu.

The boxing promoter is Michael Aldeguer of ALA Promotions. (PNA)
