The country improved their position from a second-place finish in the last edition of the games in 2017.

Defending champions Philippines settled for a third place finish.

The host country, who failed to secure a finals berth after losses to Malaysia and Brunei in the preliminaries, edged Thailand by one point 14-13 to get the bronze medal.
