Women’s lawn bowls: Singapore edged Philippines to cop gold

December 4, 2019 – Singapore get their first gold medal in lawn bowls at the expense of the Philippines to conclude the women’s lawn bowls triples at the Clark Global City on Wednesday.

The trio of Lim Poh Eng, Goh Que Kee, and Shermeen Lim Xin Yi edge past the Filipino lineup of Nancy Toyco, Asuncion Bruce, and Ainie Knight with a 16-13 outing in favor of Singapore.

It is the country’s first-ever gold medal in SEA Games lawn bowls’ history as well as their second this year, after their men’s triples end up with the bronze.

Defending champions Malaysia and last SEA Games’ third placers Brunei found themselves in the battle for the bronze.

Malaysia, who were dethroned by the Philippines in the preliminaries, grabbed the bronze after a 17-15 showcase versus their neighbors.
