Singapore stifles off form Alab

MANILA — Alab Pilipinas went cold all game long and fell prey to Singapore, 85-64, in an ASEAN Basketball League action at the OCBC Arena in Singapore on Sunday night.

The Slingers limited Alab to just 34 percent shooting all game long and pulled away for good in the third quarter, where they outscored Alab, 24-11.

Xavier Alexander flirted with a rare quadruple-double as he led Singapore, which got out of the cellar and moved up to eighth place at 2-4, with 31 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, and eight steals with two blocks.

Anthony McClain added a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds with one assist and seven blocks.

Sam Deguara put up 14 markers, nine boards, and one block for Alab, which failed to momentarily gain solo first place and fell to third place at 5-3.

Meanwhile, Amir Bell won it for Kuala Lumpur as the team rallied from 20 points down to beat Formosa, 80-79, at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Bell scored on a game-winning jumper with 15 seconds remaining, while his teammates forced Jerran Young to a huge turnover that sealed the game

Will Artino and Terrel Davis each scored 22 points for KL, which eventually zoomed to second place with the Alab loss at Singapore at 4-2.

Young tallied 25 markers, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block, while Anthony Tucker added 24 points, two boards, and five dimes for Formosa, which fell to 5-6. (PNA)
