MANILA – The Philippines is set to face its legendary rival South Korea twice in the FIBA World Cup 2023 Qualifiers.
As basketball fans and the whole country recall, Gilas Pillipinas pulled off one of its historic victories after breaking the ‘Korean Curse’ in the 2013 FIBA Asian Championships, winning 86-79. We again dominated our mighty foe in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, winning 81-78 and 82-77. South Korea is sure to come back with a vengeance but Gilas, strong and fearless, will face them once more and defend honor and country.
Fans can rally behind Gilas Pilipinas as tickets go on sale Thursday, February 17 at 12PM in all TicketNet outlets and online via www.ticketnet.com.ph. For ticket prices, Lower box is P500 and Upper Box is P200 (both exclusive of ticketing fees). The qualifiers will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the following schedule:
>> February 24, Thursday: 3PM – New Zealand vs India, 6PM – South Korea vs Philippines
>> February 25, Friday: 3PM- New Zealand vs South Korea, 6PM – India vs Philippines
>> February 27, Sunday: 4:30 PM – India vs South Korea ,7PM – New Zealand vs Philippines
>> February 28, Monday: 3PM – India vs New Zealand, 6PM – Philippines vs South Korea
Following the IATF Guidelines, only fully-vaccinated individuals aged 12 years old and above will be allowed. Fans are required to present their vaccination cards together with any valid ID / government-issued ID with picture, and use of a face mask inside the arena is mandatory. Food will only be allowed at the concourse of the coliseum, not at the audience area. Finally, a strict ‘No Kyusi pass, no entry’ policy (even for non-QC Residents) will be implemented.
