CEBU — The second-seeded KCS Computer Specialist Mandaue City clinched their fifth-straight victory of the tourney after downing the ARQ Builders Lapu-Lapu City, 75-66, in the continuation of the 2021 Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup – Visayas Leg held inside Alcantara Civic Center tonight.

In spite of the valiant 9-0 spark made by the Builders in less than two minutes remaining in the last period, the Mike Reyes-mentored Computer Specialist didn’t allow their composure to simply slip away, as both Gileant Delator and Red Cachuela splitted their respective foul free throws to put up the finishing touches of the one-sided clash.

Defense was ignited on both teams, as no one managed to cap off the game with above 50% efficiency shooting. Regardless of Lapu-Lapu City’s high amount of rebounds with 57, Mandaue managed to reign on the offensive and defensive end by having 25 assists, 10 steals, and 10 blocks overall.

Two-guard Dyll Roncal led the Computer Specialist with 14 markers in 24 minutes off the bench. Meanwhile, swingman Michole Solera provided the main assistance with 10 points, three boards and two dimes.

On the other hand, Reed Juntilla’s game-high 18 points, three rebounds and four assists weren’t sufficient enough for the Builders to come from behind in the dying moments after trailing the whole game.

Asked about how they can continue their winning ways, the “Player of the game” Roncal stressed out that they have to follow their coaching’s instruction and their whole system as a team.

“Sundin lang namin ‘yung system ni coach tapos communicate–system lang talaga.”

Roncal pushed Mandaue’s lead to 20 after a finger roll layup made in the first quarter, 27-7.

In the second quarter, Mandaue’s margin was deducted yet Jonel Bonganciso’s bank shot in the paint gave his team a 44-30 advantage.

Vincent Minguito’s close shot somehow trimmed the Computer Specialist’s gap into 16 the game at the end of the third part, 60-44.

Lapu-Lapu City would try to recover tomorrow, April 24, as they square off against the Dumaguete Warriors at 5:00 PM. Mandaue, for its part, will collide against the league-leading MJAS-Zenith Talisay Aquastars later the said day also at exactly 8:00 PM–a marquee powerhouse showdown that will cap off this tournament’s action-packed week. The two matches will be held once again in the Civic Center.
