Women’s fencing: Singapore bet cops gold vs. Philippines

December 4, 2019 – Singapore adds another gold medal in its tally as they win in the women’s individual epee at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman delivered a first-place finish after defeating Hanniel Abella in the finals, 15-12.

With both fencers earning a yellow card in the first bout, Abdul Rahman led the scoring with a 6-3 outing.

The Singaporean continued to dominate until the end of the second bout, which saw the Filipino trail by four points, 13-9.

Abella tried to bounce back in the third bout but Abdul Rahman delivered the last two hits to call it a day.

Singapore’s Cheryl Lim and Vietnam’s Nguyen Nhu Hoa shared the podium as bronze medalist, with both fencers entering the semifinals.
